Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

Default 1999 Ford Contour - Oil drain plug

Hi, my son recently purchased a 99 Ford Contour SVT - we do not have any mannual's or books for this car yet. He wanted to change the oil himself and bought a oil filter and 5 quarts of oil. None of my tools fit the drain plug. Is metric or standard tools required. Does anyone know what size the drain plug is? Also, we are assuming the car takes 5 quarts of oil, is this correct?

Thank You

Metric tools needed.
oil drain plug is 15mm from Ford but some aftermarket plugs are only 13mm.
spec'd oil capacity with filter change is 5.8 quarts but most put in a full 6 qts. Use 5W30

If he cant get a metric to fit have him get the standard wrenches then. It should be metric.
