Front end Tie rod ends reversed at the manufacturer
Ford ContourFord Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.
Front end Tie rod ends reversed at the manufacturer
This could be one for the book!!!!!!!
I have found that I need to replace the tie rod ends on my 1998 Contour SE. I had ordered the parts and replaced the passenger side with no trouble, but when I started the drivers side the new part was completley different from the old part. There is a dog leg on the Tie rod end, and on the Drivers side the dog leg is completley opposite than what I took off. My Question is the dog leg on this make of vehicle should point to the back of the car I am to assume, but the old part points to the front of the car, I have never had to replace the Tie rods till now (No Brainer to Do) but am conused....the part that is on car now could it be the wrong part. The Passenger side points to the rear of the car and so does the new part I installed, but it is the drivers side that is confusing it points to the front of th car. I checked with the Supplier of the tie rod and they dont understand it either as the Old Tie Rod was on the car since new. Any suggestions, is my thinking right should the drivers side Tie rod also dog leg to the rear of the vehicle? was this a mix up when the car was manufactured? The suppliers new part points to he rear??? Want to see if I am going crazy???
