98 contour no overdrive

hi everybody looking for some help .no overdive on 98 contour v6 and sometimes the tranny jerks between 1 and 2 nd gear but the rest is ok. is there a relay or sensor that i should change.i just bought the car and no idea what can do this .thanks

This is typically a faulty TSS (Turbine Shaft Speed Sensor) although you should check your TPS first since it controls engine load calculations in conjunction with MAF data. It can also be caused by incorrect internal pressure caused by a binding actuator valve, bad internal solenoids, bad wiring to the transmission, or a bad PCM.



There are several TSS available for the CD4E transmission, make sure you get the correct one if you go this route. Use the numbers on the old one.

if you havn't found a problem yet check the wiring. A mouse had chewed my overdrive wire into. taped it back togeather and everything worked fine. found wire near wheel end/ fire wall of tranny
