Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

'98 four cyl. auto.Contour lost trans. fluid when the snap ring holding the intermediate/overdrive servo cover in place came partially out. I pushed the cover and snap ring back into place,refilled the trans., and started the engine. At idle, things seemed OK, however when I accelerated in gear, the snap ring popped out again. I have a new cover and snap ring, and I'm sure replacing the present ones will be fun, but I'd surely like to know what caused the failure, and am I looking at bigger problems. The car has a lot of miles, but up to now the trans. has been problem free. If anyone has any input, I'd really appreciate it.
