Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

Default 1999 Contour 2.0 Alternator issue
Alternator not charging.
Replaced with reman alternator.

Eliminated superfuse.
Tried the red wire jump trick.
Next morning car had a dead battery.

Dash bulb is good.

Any ideas?

Don't waste your $$ guessing. Next time you get it started go to Autozone or some other auto shop (most will do it for free) and have them check the charging system WHILE IT'S RUNNING ! Clean and tighten any/all connections for the charging/starting system - battery, alternater, silinlid, starter, ground cables to frame and to engine block. Any of these could be a weak spot in the system. GOOD LUCK

We did run the check on the charging system and confirmed the alternator was not charging.

We jumped out the field wire to get the alternator to charge for now.
