Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

Default door latch

driver door will not latch, tried everything any suggestions? I oiled the latch, pounded with a hammer, and tried to remove it but could not seperate the latch from the door handle or key lock. Also it has electric door locks.

Give us an idea of "everything" you tried so we don't suggest it again.

I sprayed lubricants into it, tapped with a hammer, opened the door panel and tried to remove the lock but could not remove it all the way. The door handle and key lock would not seperate from the latch.

Sometimes there is a horseshoe shaped keeper that holds the lock/latch in place. It will be a thin "U" shaped piece like sheet metal and should just slide out with a screwdriver.
