99 Contour down on power when up to operating temp, whats wrong?
Ford ContourFord Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.
99 Contour down on power when up to operating temp, whats wrong?
I have a 99 Contour SE 2.5 V6 manual and runs great has good pickup when cold but when I get to operating temp it loses about 1/3 of its power. Go to pass somebody and expecting decent pickup and BLAH not nearly the power it had when engine first started up. Really noticeable(sp?) on hot days not as bad on cooler days.
A friend said it might be a problem with the IMRC, but that still seems to be kicking in and working correctly. Is there anything linked to the IMRC thats based on engine temp?
I thought maybe plugged cats but if it was that I figured it would be crappy all the time not just when engine gets warmer.
I've been putting up with this poochiness for over a year now and I really want to figure it out and remedy the situation.
Any and all info is greatly appreciated. Thank You
