Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

Default trans range switch

Hello all I am brand new to the forum and well this is my first car as well so forgive me if I am a bit illiterate. But since my dad was in the army for 20years he workd on chinooks so I thankfully inheirited his mechanically inclined skills but enough about me on to my problem. I recently bought a 1998 Ford Contour GL Crown 2.0ltr DOHC. well I bought it busted and fixed the alternator then the ac condenser and presto!! it worked but when I drive it *bucks/jerks* and it slips out of high gear the check engine light came on got it tested the code was a P0708 trans range switch high input. Well I am also leaving for college in 4 days so this is a must fix now problem. I search the net and found this site and also found a link to a past thread with the exact same problem here is the link.

http://www.ford-forums.com/ford-cont...-sensor-4.html

Im pretty sure that they are one in the same the name he uses is *sensor*. So I pulled of the part described in the tread then I went down to auto zone and asked the guy he said that I had pulled off the neutdral parks sensor, now me doing my prior research I ran across the a couple sites that said that the neutral park sensor and the trans range sensor were one in the same. IS THIS TRUE? and Is this the right way to fix my problem Im broke since Im goin to college and I cant afford a new transmition let alone a new car. (I also read that there was a recall on the part but when I went down to the dealership to get the a/c risistor fixed they told me that all other recalls were expired so im assuming that I must pay for this.) i took pictures of the part but cant upload them because Idk how. PPPLEASE HELP!!!

anything i mean anything to help would be a GOD SEND
Thanks in advance-sorry for the long tread.
