I Need Help With My 1999 Ford Contour transmission

A mechanic did a code reading for my transmission and it came up with a code0731 & p0733. I dont even know what them codes mean? He also told me that he had to open the transmission to see what was wrong with it, but it really only had a fluid leak. So after he looked at it he said "there are internal slips and the clutch burned out"...(but i drove it up there to him??) With this kind of trouble would the car be able to move? Now im stuck out because he is making up these excuses and trying to make me pay an arm and a leg just to put the car back together!

In most states a mechanic is requierd by law to give you a written estimate and must receive signed authorization before doing any repair work.
Check your area laws.

Incorrect gear ratio faults are often caused by a bad TSS or associated wiring although other problems may exist.
