Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

Default 98 4Cylinder, Locating a pin

My dad needs help finding the timing pin on his 98 2.0L 4Cyl Ford Contour. It's the third time he's changed the timing assembly in the past 2 years and this time it'll start, but he can't get it to stay running.

thanks ahead to anyone who can help

"timing pin"
Be more specific, not sure what you're after.

There are marks and pointers on the crank and cams.
There are alignment slots in the rear.
There is an advance jumper in some ECUs.
If the engine is VCT the exhaust cam must be held against the VCT.
If the belts are shredding you should replace the idler pulleys and tensioner assembly.

Sounds like he may have another problem right now.

Turns out it was just a vacuum tube cap behind the engine...
