Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

Default 98 Contour Alternator replaced 3 times
In the last two weeks I have become an expert in replacing the alternator, I have replace it three times and at my wits end. I know I have to have a hot ground somewhere butjust not sure how to go about finding it. The battery is also new and the terminals are clean.

Any thoughts or suggestions ?

Interestingly enough I will be giving the car up for a week and having a mechanic look at
I'm hoping that he can find it. I beliive I have met my match but was hoping that someone had a similar isssue. You know what an expert is though..... ex is a has been a spurt is a drip under pressure.

The only thing I can suggest it to remove every fuse and relay and disconnect the battery.

Reconnect the Battery and connect a volt meter to it.

Install each fuse one by one and each relay one by one, if you get a big spark or a big voltage drop you will find the bad circuit.

If the alternators came from Autozone I wouldn't be all that surprised to have 3 failures in a row.
