Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

Default 98 ford contour ignition problems

I've been screwing around recently with the fusebox in our car. It started when the horn sounded yesterday and wouldn't stop. We removed the fuse that controls the horn / emergency blinkers. That solved that. Next day the battery is dead and we realize the headlights won't turn off. I fiddled around with fuses trying to fix that, and now when I turn the key the windshield wipers go off, and the car makes a clicking sound and doesn't turn over. I've put all the fuses back in the spots they originally were, and unpluged the horn instead, but the ignition/windshield wiper problem still remains. Any idea what I screwed up?

clicking sounds you hear are from the starter
(there is not enough power in the battery for cranking)
recharge the battery or get a new one
