Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

Default Need help with my 1999 Contour

I have a 1999 Ford Contour SE 2.5 liter. I started out with a misfire and took care of that, I ended up changing out the plugs, wires, injectors, coil pack, fuel filter and intake manifold gaskets. It still stumbles on acceleration, I recently took it in to have someone else look at it, they said the codes for a manifold leak, IMRC were issues. I got it back and replaced the IMRC. Same problem yet.
This leads me to wonder, on the Contour the intake manifold gasket is plastic with rubber seals, on something like that do you still need to use sealer? Or does anyone else have any suggestions?
Please help.

What code did it have?
You can do a quick check for vacuum leaks with a spray can of something flammable. Brake cleaner, carb cleaner ect. Spray around the engine with it running. If the idle changes the leak will be near the area you were spraying. Have a fire extinguisher on hand just in case.

The codes were for a leak in the intake manifold, and the other for the IMRC. I am going to try your idea tomorrow and see what happends.

I did find the problem with my Contour. It turned out those new plug wires I bought, well one was bad. In the factory they must have cut the wire while putting on the clip. So the car would only fire right when it was not moving or going slow. Fortunately I kept the old set and changed the defective one. It runs awsome now! Thank you for the suggestions though.
