Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

Angry Help!

I have a 99 contour sport... my check engine light has been on for sometime i took it to Cottonman because it was throwing off a transmission code along with others....ending up having my transmission fixed thought that would stop the check engine issue...didn't. As soon as my trans was fixed 5 minutes after picking it up light came back on....took it back because trans is under warranty they ran diagnostics on it and it was throwing air sensor codes...recently had all 4 of those replaced few days ago and the check engine light still came on. Took it to Autozone to see what code it was throwing and it threw P1131 (lack of HO2S switch - sensor indicates lean) and told the guy i just had all 4 sensors replaced he told me to disconnect postive cable on my battery for 30-45 min because my car needed to reset itself. I did this today and of course within driving about 15 min it came back on. I have no idea what else to do if it is throwing up the same code when it shouldnt be due to the fact i have 4 new sensors. Any ideas of what to do, this is becoming a pain.

Lightbulb something else to check

I had that problem a few months ago. After spending over $100 on sensors, and $200 on a scanner, found out it was the PCV valve. A whopping $5 and it ran perfectly fine after that.

Causes of P1132--

P1132 - Lack of HO2S-11 Switch, Indicates Rich

When an HO2S sensor indicates rich at the end of a test, the system is trying to correct for an over-rich condition. The code is set when the fuel control system no longer detects switching for a calibrated amount of time.

Electrical:
· Short to VPWR or VREF in harness or HO2S
· HO2S circuit shorted to Ground
· Water in harness connector
· Open circuit
· Corrosion or poor mating terminals and wiring
· Damaged HO2S
· Damaged PCM (other DTCs should be present)
Fuel System:
· Excessive fuel pressure (stuck fuel pressure regulator, restricted fuel return lines, etc.)
· Leaking/contaminated fuel injectors or fuel pressure regulator
· Low fuel pressure or running out of fuel (fuel pump concern, fuel supply line restrictions, low fuel level, etc.)
· Vapor recovery system (stuck VMV, etc.)
Induction System:
· MAF contamination
· Air leaks between MAF and throttle plate
· PCV system / Other vacuum leaks
· Improperly seated engine oil dipstick
EGR System:
· Leaking gasket
· Stuck EGR valve / Leaking diaphragm or EVR
Base Engine:
· Oil overfill
· Incorrect cylinder compression
· Exhaust leaks before or near the HO2S
· Secondary air stuck on
