Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

Default No Fuel 2000 Contour

About once a week my 2000 Ford Contour will not start. When this happens there is spark but no gas. I pour a little gas down the throttle and it starts instantly and runs fine for about another week. This has happen sitting over night and also just for a few hours. I suspect a fuel pump but would think that the problem would not be so random. Also where is the fuel filter located? Thanks for any ideas.

I'm having problems with my '98 Ford Contour, getting it to start and run...

I would suspect a clogged fuel filter. If no one has answered you yet, the fuel filter (about $7) is actually mounted to the side of the gas tank, right in front of the RR tire, under the RR door.

Hope this helps!

Fuel pumps are always going out on these cars. A fix is to get the focus fuel pump but there is some modification needed to fit. Also, why does everyone assume its the fuel filter. Inless there is 150K on it or your using really shitty gas, then im sure the filter is fine. If its a v6, there is a schrader valve under the intake that you can tap into to get the fuel pressure. Ill keep checking back on this thread to see if more help is needed.
