Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

Default Tranny shifting hard from 1st to 2nd........

Hi, I just purchased a 1995 Contour SE with 123,000 miles on it. It's automatic and it shifts hard from 1st to 2nd gear, all the other shifts are normal. Can someone please tell me if this is a simply repair or should on put FS signs on it?! Thanks in advance, Nelson.

Red face Same problem with new tranny

I'm not a tranny fixer, but my 'check engine' light went on just after the hard shifting started. Working on the problem now and would be happy to let you know anything I find.

Reply that you still are having this issue - or if you found out additional informaiton, please let me know.

There is a senser on the drivers side of the car. If its black, its the bad one. Go to your local ford dealer and order the new TSS sensor for the CD4E transmission. It should be white and it will solve your problem. Also, you may want to consider the VSS sensor on top of the transmission too. It causes problems. They just came out with a new one for the Escape that will work on it too.

Mine was the white one that went bad, went to the Ford dealership and got a new TRS (transmission range selector) and they gave me a black one that works perfect.
