Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

Default 97 Contour rear suspension bang

I have a 97 Contour , I'm getting a rattle noise in REAR suspension when driving..... hitting a slight bump in road.

I have changed 1 bad stabilizer bushing, and removed struts -checked strut mounts..... both were OK. checked all trailing arm bushings, sway bar bushings, CANNOT SEE ANYTHING VISIBLE TO MAKE ANY NOISE.

ANY HINTS, Thanks T

Check out the sway bar endlink bushings ( connect the sway bar to the rear axle sorta) I bet the bushings are worn out. You can pick up new bushings at any good auto parts store.

Reverse the brake line brackets so they face down. From what I understand the bumping noise is the brake line hitting and it seems to be a common problem. I just read this at www.fordforums.com. Just click on the common problems link.
