My daughter has 99 Contour that sat for a couple of months. She started using it a couple weeks ago and 4 out of 5 times it will start. Other times it will make a loud whine. If you try again every few minutes it will eventually start. I took it to a AAA shop and they said it was the starter and replaced it at a cost of $415.00. It still does the same thing. The shop said to bring it back, I just want to make sure I'm not throwing money away, and the mechanic is not taking stabs in the dark... Any suggestions?
