Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

Default Pass compartment water leak

Hello, I have a 2000 SVT contour. For the last 2 years it has been a fairweather car, only driven in the sunshine. I had to drive it in the rain yesterday and this morning noticed that the passenger front floormat and carpet were wet. It never leaked prior to me only driving in nice weather. No other parts of the carpet are wet and I can't determine a point where the water came from although it would seem it dropped down from above. It is not wet underneath the the carpet and I have not noticed a leak path throught he door seals. In fact the carpet only seems to be wet in the footwell and not at higher points surronding it. Has anyone else encountered this type of problem with any contour and what did you find? I imagine it is coming in through the firewall or from below the molding at the base of the windhsield. HELP!

Default Leaks.......

Had this problem. Remove the heater air intake vent cover between the hood and the windshield, remove air filter (also clean this while it is out). Remove intake cowling. Rubber seal is probably rotted, split or out-of place. The water enters the open side of the vent covers, travels along the trough on the bulkhead, and before it has time to drain thru the drain tubes, it goes under the seal and into the passenger compartment.
I made a new seal from 1/4" soft rubber, siliconed and refitted. No leaks, cheap repair.
