Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

Default 1998 Contour, idling rough, Temp gauge broke, maybe overheating.

Its idling rough, loses power on acceleration, shakes, I think its overheating, but I cant tell cause the gauge is broke. Any ideas on what might be wrong? How can I tell if its overheating? Theres no leaks, no clicking noises.

Oh and the idling and acceleratoin loss occur even when the engine is cold still. I think the overheating has caused some serious damage. either that or ruined the spark plugs?

ok, pull your plugs and check them. The heat usually won't affect them, but if they are fouled your car won't run for crap. Also check compression. Finally check for broken vaccum lines.

Get that gauge fixed, or put a mechanical gauge on it.
