98 contour tranny problem

Hey my friend has a 98 contour and he's having problems with his tranny it drives but the engine sounds like its resting at 4 grand rather then 1 2 grand um i tried to find his master cylinder for his clutch but im also not sure if its hydrolic or cable clutch tho and when the cars off we are unable to put it into any gear and when he does drive he cant bring it out of first so what do you guys think? please help

The line from the clutch master cylinder might have a hole. hope this helps.

The clutch itself is hydraulic but it has shift cables. Not clutch cables.
