Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

Default 1996 Ford Contour - Speedometer - Heat

I have an issue, my speedometer don't work and neither does the air conditioner and heater. Is there any solution that I can fix myself before I take it to a mechanic?

Please help,

Thank You

My heater does not work... when I turn the nob from Off to whatever selection, it don't work, no air comes out...

HEAT
ok, your blower motor or your blower motor resistor could be bad, if the fan isn't running
if the fan is running but the air is cold it could be your blend doors, a plugged heater core, a sticking heater control valve, a broken vaccum line, or low coolant
AC
Check the the ac compressor clutch connector, freon level, high and low pressure switchs, plugged orfice, rusted up accumulator

speed sensor should be on the transmission, sometimes on the output shaft

Okay the heater and ac gave out at the same time... the lights are on but nothing... Again about the speed sensor, I don't know anything about fixing cars when it comes to the motor and trans..

blow motor, usually located on the firewall, or in the dash, its what moves the air through your cooling system

NOT the coolant fan, mounted behind your radiator

Your switches might be broken. Mine broke in the defroster position, so when I switch it to Max AC or any other position it just stays on defrost. Also there is no such thing as high or low, just mid high and mid low work. I'm no mechanic but it might be worth looking into.
