Ford ContourFord Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.
Well recently my cousin's Contour has been giving us problems. First it started off as in it wouldnt start but would sound like it was going to turn over. So we took it in they replaced the Timing Belt, and some other odd's and in's. Then it still wouldnt start and the guy called and said he was going to replace the Fuel Pump, once that was replaced it'd start and run for maybe 3 seconds at the most and then just shut off by itself.
The way the guy fixing it described it, there was a bent valve that was allowing gas to seep into the Catalytic Converter and making it red hot. And the timing belt had no teeth. So needed to be replaced and the crank or whatever was bent too. So we've just spent 500$ plus another 100$ on the Timing Belt and Fuel Pump.
well if you have a 2.0L engine it is not an interference engine so the valve would not be bent. and if this guy was a true technician he should have known if the timming belt would have fixed it or the fuel pump would but certainly not both. good luck with that guy
