Ford Crown Victoria Though they were what most people drove in the 1950s and 1960s, full-size cars like the Ford Crown Victoria are now an anomaly. But Ford's biggest sedan still offers significant virtues, including affordable V8 performance and room for six people. Today, the Crown Victoria's passenger and cargo volumes compare favorably against fashionable SUVs.

Default change oil light came on - 2007 crown vic lx

at around 3 thousand miles ( i bought it new a half of a year ago ) , the change oil light came on , just a day before i was going to change the oil and filter ... the dealer i bought it from went out of business , and the dealer that got the warranty is way too far away ... all i want to do is not have to keep hitting the reset button to stop this "oil change light" from coming on...frustrating - how do i do it ? thank you , c.s.p.

Change the oil.....I recommend using synthetic. if you go the walmart and buy oil, its about 25 bux for 5 quarts and an oil filter. I recommend mobile one or amisoil. Its really easy to chage oil, with a crown vic, i would drive it up on ramps. And if you keep pushing the reset button and not changing your oil, your going to blow your motor!!

i only drive it once in a while - i parked it in my garage , was going to do the oil change the next day , but it was pouring rain ... have not driven it since and the light came on at 3,200 miles - i am an oil changing type person - i guess that you are saying it is not something in the o b d computer software , but instead the car has a viscosity reader ? i do have drive on ramps and already bought 5w-20 castrol , 7 quarts (one extra to match the type oil i'm going to put in) ... bought a fram ph-5 filter - the first non rainy or non snowy saturday , i'll do the oil change ... i have four other vehicles , so i have no need to drive it with the oil change light , plus i do not like going over 3,300 or 3,400 miles on an oil change ... so if i understand you correctly , by just changing the oil and filter , the light will go out ? does it have a viscosity reader on it , or something ? ( when i said i had to keep hitting the re-set button , i meant when i start it up to move it out of the garage to get at my tools , the light comes on ... i start it up to back it back in , i have to hit the re-set button again...i've only driven it about a tenth of a mile in and out of the garage since the light came on)...thank you for the help !!!

Oil change is at 3 months 3000 miles. If you havent changed it since you bought it 1 1/2 years ago change it asap. Dirty oil will damage your Engine.

The less you drive the car the more contaminated the Oil can get due to not heating up and sitting.

i bought it last march - march 2007- will not drive it out of the garage \ driveway until i get a dry saturday to do the oil change - what i'm asking is , once i do this (then i'll drive it ) , the light knows to not come on anymore ? NOTHING TO RE-SET ON THE DAY (TOMORROW IF NOT RAINING) I GET THE OLD OIL AND FILTER ? IT HAS A VISCOSITY READER ? .....by the way , the 3200 miles it has on it is ALL HIGHWAY MILES - 5 round trips from pennsy to virginia and back again

No viscosity reader.

It should take 5w30 oil but check your manual or sticker/tag or oil cap under the hood.

You will have to manually reset the car yourself, it should tell you how in the manual.

okay , i'll look again in the manual - couldn't find it the first time - i'm at work now , and the car is home with manual inside of it , in the garage - i hated buying 5w-20 oil , but that's what the manual said to buy and use - i figured it must have small oil return ports in the heads , or something like that - so i decided to get what viscosity the manual and oil cap said - i figured the engineers knew better than i - but i really wanted to buy that 5w-30 multi-viscosity , i truly did want to !!! i will be totally scouring the manual tonight , when i get home !!! thanks for the replies !!!!

better stick with the 5w20 since the engine was designed to run on it.

Feel free to call any Ford Dealer and they should be able to tell you how to reset the oil change light for free.
