Ford Crown VictoriaThough they were what most people drove in the 1950s and 1960s, full-size cars like the Ford Crown Victoria are now an anomaly. But Ford's biggest sedan still offers significant virtues, including affordable V8 performance and room for six people. Today, the Crown Victoria's passenger and cargo volumes compare favorably against fashionable SUVs.
I have a 1996 CV. It is having problems with stumbling at acceleration. When it is cold I have problems starting from a stop or even driving up hills. It also has started to cut out power while I am driving at freeway speeds, it will drop from around 70 mph to about 50 or so before it will accelerate again. I cannot "put my foot into it" as it will bog down then too. Also (I am sure this must be related) it has trouble shifting while accelerating, I have to let off the gas so it will shift. Any direction that you guys could point me would be great. Also is there a way to retrive CEL codes without using a code reader?
OK,,, Changed the Fuel Filter and the EGR valve, still happening. The CEL light is on. I heard that if could be a MAF sensor, but would that cause the shifting issues?
