Fast Turn Signals and LCM

I recently received a 2002 Crown Vic as a company car. The turn signals flash at a rather fast rate.

In researching this, I found indications that there may be a voltage drop of some sort to the LCM (lighting control module) that causes the problem. It also appears to be a function of the climate control fan speed as well, as when the fan is low or off, the turn signals function normally. If the climate control fan is running at medium or high, the turn signals flash at a much faster rate.

Other than going in and cleaning connectors and the like, is there anything else I can do to correct the situation? I am wondering if the current draw of the climate control fan might be the issue, indicating that it might require replacement.

I have read about this on the P71 web site, where they resolved it by bringing in a separate power feed to the LCM, but I would like to avoid any "re-engineering" if I can.

I would add that I am a former NIASE import car mechanic (Mercedes and Jaguars) so tearing in to this is not a big deal for me.

Found the fix (sorry!)

There is a TSB that addresses the problem - you can find it on the P71 Web site - it involves using a new circuit in the fuse block to feed the TCM and climate control form separate circuits.

If you can't find it, let me know and I'll go back and dig up the link...
