My main concern is that it does not like to shift. If I am at a stop light and begin to drive, it stays solid 25mph; unless I either floor it from the get go (pumping motion) or press-and-release to get the gears to change so I can go 45 mph... A lot of other drivers do not like sitting behind me, and everyone passes me while I try to get to cruise speed. This started the same time a clicking noise happened..
There is a possibility that they may not be related... I cannot visibly see anything, and have heard two suggestions from car-handy people (not professionals however) 1) "lifters" are causing it or 2) there is a hole somewhere causing an exhaust leak which can have a rhythmic sound that increases as I accelerate.
I'm looking to repair this myself, and I have the manual for the car... just not sure where to start. (Transmission or Drive shaft issue? etc. / et. al.)
