Ford Crown VictoriaThough they were what most people drove in the 1950s and 1960s, full-size cars like the Ford Crown Victoria are now an anomaly. But Ford's biggest sedan still offers significant virtues, including affordable V8 performance and room for six people. Today, the Crown Victoria's passenger and cargo volumes compare favorably against fashionable SUVs.
i'm in need of some help.
i'm looking to buy a crown vic soon but thinking of going to an auction and looking at what they have there.
i'd love to get 1 with all the wires, lights and radios in there already. (if possible)..
anyone know of any auctions in the Southern California area?
or know of a web site where i can see if there is an auction in my area?
thanks for any help you can give me
usually they remove the lights and radios since they are not legal and they can use them on a new car. I was stopped to make sure that I had no lights or sirens on my car just recently, spotlights are legal though. Also in southern california area, I just used craigslist and found mine... I'm sure it would be better bought from a police auction because then all the maintenance is always usually good. Anyway good luck.
yah i kinda figured that with the radio, i really want the strobes to be in the head lights and tail lights though..
i've found a couple of really nice ones on craigslist. There's an auction in LA called Ken Porters Auctions that i'm thinking of going to..
paintball: do you live in So Cal?
i know that amber strobes or legal but what about white?
thanks
yeah live in fontana, but umm amber strobes that like tow trucks use are legal, and I believe that the directional bar strobes are legal too, the kind the cops have in the back windshield to point traffic to one side of the road or the other, I think those are legal... I have been thinking about getting that because my hazards do not work for some odd reason, like the button is stuck down, I dont get it at all. I think it might be something the cops did to it though. As for white/blue/red strobes or really any other color, I believe that they would not be legal because it could be considered a distraction to other drivers and imitation of a peace officer or impersonation (whatever its called) because then other drivers would think that you are an emergency vehicle trying to clear traffic for something important when really you might just being going to work or something. like I said I am not sure though... but when that cop in glendale stopped me he asked specifically if I had any strobes on it. One of the main things I looked for in this car is that it did not have any strobes on it anymore. OHH haha but you could always get a PA system those are legal I believe. Sorry late reply... busy day.
ya i'm planning on getting all ambers just so i wont get harassed that much..
ya i've head that PA's are illegal as well. not sure though, it all depends on which cop lights you up.
ohh damn, my friend said that they are legal and hes into the whole street racing thing so I thought he would know for sure. I didn't think they would be able to sell them if they are illegal. anyway yeah just go ambers, it would suck I know cause the color isn't as good but at least you wont get tickets.
JonC: Here is a link to the CVC reguarding the flashing lights that are allowed on a vehicle. I believe I saw something in there that said Amber lights ARE illegal, so before you get in trouble because I agreed that they were legal you may want to look into it.
