Ford Crown Victoria Though they were what most people drove in the 1950s and 1960s, full-size cars like the Ford Crown Victoria are now an anomaly. But Ford's biggest sedan still offers significant virtues, including affordable V8 performance and room for six people. Today, the Crown Victoria's passenger and cargo volumes compare favorably against fashionable SUVs.

Default My vics RIMS!

Can anybody help me out here? 1 of my vics rims needs some help, its like reddish compared to the rest of them, it looks like rust or something... can these be painted? if so is there a special kind of paint that I need to use for rims?

if you have wiped them out, look at them carefully, if I remember right on some p71s there was a recall on the rims due to premature rusting, if that's the case take it to the dealer and have it checked out, if it's not, sandblast it, or find someone who can, then spray rust-oleum the rim.

If you don't have the recalled rims just paint them, if you do have the recalled rims then fight like hell to get them replaced(some people had their requests denied since the vehicle was no longer in service for the department they were issued to). The recalled wheels were the 7-hole wheels, the 12-hole wheels replaced them. Mine are the 12-hole.
Here is one of my wheels:

And after a good cleaning, a few coats of satin black and matte clear(I also painted the center caps):

Of course you could avoid the problem with the steel wheels and use these, they look better anyway.

nice, definitely painting would be cheaper, more do-able. How did you clean them? a wire brush or something? ...also, nice headlights those are not stock are they??

I cleaned the wheels with regular car wash soap and a rough brush then went at them with a wire wheel and a stripping wheel in the bad spots. Then clean them again to prep them for paint and mask off the tire(you can remove the balancing weights if you get them balanced right after but I just left mine on). I did one wheel at a time, took it off and replaced it with the spare, cleaned and dried it then painted it and left it overnight and moved on to the next wheel. Took me about a week.
The headlights are stock but the corners are clear. I am working on new headlights, I'll post pics when I'm done.
