Ford Crown Victoria Though they were what most people drove in the 1950s and 1960s, full-size cars like the Ford Crown Victoria are now an anomaly. But Ford's biggest sedan still offers significant virtues, including affordable V8 performance and room for six people. Today, the Crown Victoria's passenger and cargo volumes compare favorably against fashionable SUVs.

Default 95 crn vic a/c problems

'95 crn vic, the a/c compressor will not always run. I jumped out the hi and low pressure controls (there was 12v to gnd at both), swapped the a/c cut out relay with the fuel pump relay. Jiggled the interior controls. Check all fuses.

The a/c cut-out relay does not pull in.

When the car is first started the clutch may engage for a few cycles the it shus off for 1 minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes there is no standard.

I've thought about the throttle position sensor only because of the WOT but dismissed this since the car otherwise operates fine.

The electric cooling fan is operating fine.

Any schematics available for download?

Computer problem?

Any Ideas?

Jim

Default

My crown vic (322,XXX miles) gives a computer code called AC compressor short run or something like that but the air works fine but it's factory r-134a. My grandpa's grand marquis was converted to r-134a and the ac clutch seemed to do what yours is doing. We never really fixed it but the clutch gap was way out of spec like the clutch was worn out.
