Ford Crown VictoriaThough they were what most people drove in the 1950s and 1960s, full-size cars like the Ford Crown Victoria are now an anomaly. But Ford's biggest sedan still offers significant virtues, including affordable V8 performance and room for six people. Today, the Crown Victoria's passenger and cargo volumes compare favorably against fashionable SUVs.
1996 crown vic gas mileage. Mine seems to have dropped from low 20's to high teens. Any ideas? Its a cng (compressed natural gas) model but I don't think it's a fuel leak. My commute is a mixture of stop and go and 60-70 mph cruising. Commute is the same- need to fill up more frequently.
thanks

Well, a chip set up for enhanced mileage would get a bit better mileage... Lonnie Doll at Blue Oval Chips has had real good results with his chips and /or the SCT flasher. the driveability is enhanced as well. Another thing to do is get a fuel pressure guage, and adjustable regulator to set the fuel pressure a tad closer to spec.......Too high fuel pressure will waste some gas. Plugs and wires dont last that long on the pre '99 lost spark systems, and need to be maintained to get optimum mileage. Also keeping the tires inflated to 36 to 40 lbs will stretch the gas a bit further too. Quite a few people have noticed Citgo gasoline doesnt yield as high mileage as other brands, and is a point to consider as well.
