Ford Crown Victoria Though they were what most people drove in the 1950s and 1960s, full-size cars like the Ford Crown Victoria are now an anomaly. But Ford's biggest sedan still offers significant virtues, including affordable V8 performance and room for six people. Today, the Crown Victoria's passenger and cargo volumes compare favorably against fashionable SUVs.

Default 1994 Crown Victoria Left Rear Door Window / Regulator

Hello All: I have previously replaced the drivers door window regulator (cable type), on my 1994 Crown Victoria, thanks to step by step instruction found on this site (Thank You!). I am now in the process of replacing the left rear but am having difficulty removing the glass to do the instllation. Do I have to remove the vent glass to make room to remove the door glass? Are the harware requirements (nuts and bolts, as opposed to rivets) the same as for the drivers door re: size and length etc.?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Craig

USUALLY... you just flip the glass "nose down" untill it's rotated clear, then you pull it up between the belt moldings... I'm not as familiar with that window as some... you may have to remove the stops first, you may have to loosen the bolts in the bottom of the door that hold the glass guides...

Here's a better question:

When I bought my 93 LX, the driver's side power window had to be replaced by the dealer before purchase. Then, about a year later, I had to replace the rear passenger regulator. Now, the rear driver's side regulator is out.

Just what's the MTBF of these bloody cable-type power window regulator's supposed to be?

Hasn't anybody designed an after market regulator that uses gears or belts or chains or levitation beams, or anything besides these cables?

You have to drill out the factory rivets out of the glass.. it's the only way.

My 1993 lost all 4 regulators within a 2 week period...

I was looking fo that step-by-step guide mentioned in this post. Does anyone have that handy?? I have removed the motors and tested them, I figure I will need to drill out the rivet to remove it. But if there is a good procedure for this I would really appreciate it..
Thanks

I am in a similar situation, 94' crown victoria passenger side window won't go up. When button is pressed I hear the motor (I think) and nothing happens. It doesn't help that the circuit (i think) controlling the windows and locks has been acting up lately. Is this something I can fix myself or would I be better off taking it to a mechanic? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Removing the window belt molding will allow you to rotate the glass lenthwise and remove it.

What I like about Ford's power window motors is that they are repairable. If you can hear the motor running and the glass doesn't move, then you probably just have to replace the nylon bushings in the gear housing. I just renewed all four on my son's '92 Crown Vic for $12.00 per window.
