Ford Econoline There's more to the Econoline's staying power than Ford simply sticking with a product that has been the No. 1-selling full-size van since 1980. The Econoline has received only minor changes over the years. The result is a cargo van that looks different, but is still very much the same. For many E-Series customers, that is the best news of all.

Default 1992 E-150 no start issue

My van has a no start condition. it is a 1992 e-150 with a 5.8 L engine. It was running fine and then just quit running and now has no spark. It doesn't have the TFI module on the distributor. The rotor is spinning just not generating any spark. It also has a new coil installed. Anyone have any ideas on what it might be causing this problem? Please let me know if i need to give any other info. Thanks for the help !

Have you checked to see if you have voltage to the coil? have you checked the ignition module?

If there is no spark at the plug, you need to move to the output HT lead from the coil and see if you have a spark there. Substitute a HT plug lead for the HT lead from coil to distributor and see if you have a spark at the coil output. If you do then you probably have a problem with the cap and/or rotor. Check the cap for a good spring loaded connection at the top where the rotor makes contact and good connections where the HT leads plug in. Check rotor for damage and poor contact with cap connections. Check cap for cracks or moisture. If in doubt just replace them both.

If no fire at the new coil then the low tension circuit is the problem. You will have an ignition module somewhere that could be faulty. Also the crankshaft position sensor could be faulty or have a bad connection.

Hope this helps.

Default Try this........

Our 1996 vans have a fuel inertia switch, which is supposed to only shut off in an impact, but they mysteriously go off for no reason. It is located (on ours) behind the passenger side kick panel just ahead of the door. There is a small switch with a button on top (yellow I think) just push it down and it will reset. Worth a try.
