Ford Econoline There's more to the Econoline's staying power than Ford simply sticking with a product that has been the No. 1-selling full-size van since 1980. The Econoline has received only minor changes over the years. The result is a cargo van that looks different, but is still very much the same. For many E-Series customers, that is the best news of all.

Exclamation Cranking Issue with 96 E-150

I have a 1996 ford E-150 with 350 5.8 liter engine and over 270,000 miles.
Recently I have had problems with it cranking, when I go to crank it sometimes it dosnt do nothing, no turnover or anything all i get is dash lights, but the funny thing is that when i put it in neutral it cranks right up. a mechanic told it wasnt the starter because it only does this like everyonce in a while.
Wat could be the problem?
thanks,

that could cause it to only crank in nuetral when it dosnt crank?
also would that have anything to do with the gearshifter being broken, cause my shifter has the overdrive part broken off, i bought a new one from ford and was going to put it on myself but there is somekind of special tool i have to have.
do u know the name of the tool and where i could get it from?
