Ford Econoline There's more to the Econoline's staying power than Ford simply sticking with a product that has been the No. 1-selling full-size van since 1980. The Econoline has received only minor changes over the years. The result is a cargo van that looks different, but is still very much the same. For many E-Series customers, that is the best news of all.

Default my econoline won't drive streight

I purchased a 1999 Ford Econoline and am having troubles keeping it going in a line. i'm having problems with the steering controll as it is drifting. It drifts aroung the lane and can be a handfull to controll. I have replaced the ball joints and the steering gear box. Neither of those have solved the problem. Is this a common problem with this series? what should i do to fix it?

It has the 5.4 v-8, it's a workhorse. I can not afford to put any more money into it.

Have you had the front end aligned? We had a 350-based motorhome, and it tracked very well. Had Michelin LTX tires.

A toe-out condition will aggravate wander.

Tie rods might be a culprit. Get those checked before an alignment. Make sure that all tires are wearing evenly. E150's will need to be aligned more often then the HD E250 and up versions since the suspension setup is different.

I like the Michelin LTX tires, ride very good on the E450 at work!

It is not a common problem E 150s track extremely well. If you are new to vans they do take some getting used to because you set soooo far forward.

Default Wanderings

Does anyone have the toe specs for a 94 e350? Mine wanders all over the place. I checked the toe and it is "0" also the camber on the driver's side is negative using a level to check. My van is an Airstream conversion with a bubble top so is is inherently top heavy which adds to the problem. Makes it very tiring to drive.
