Ford Econoline There's more to the Econoline's staying power than Ford simply sticking with a product that has been the No. 1-selling full-size van since 1980. The Econoline has received only minor changes over the years. The result is a cargo van that looks different, but is still very much the same. For many E-Series customers, that is the best news of all.

Default 98 E250 with tow package- wiring 7pole receiver

installed the brake controller-works okay- but don't know where to get 12v for the black wire in the rear loom (battery pole in the 7 pole receiver)
the 4 pole trailer lights connection works okay
(rear towing wiring loom for brake controller has 4 wires-
1 blue for the brake controller,
1 orange,
1 white(ground),
1 black-battery post at the rear receiver

Is there a fuse or relay to get power to this wire? Where is it located?

I'm confused.

I have the factory trailer tow option on my E150 and all of the 7 pins are wired, including the 12V hot.

The extra pigtail they give you is for under the dash to connect to your brake controller.

I have two- 4 wire looms going to the rear
one is the flat 4 wires for the lights, turn, stop
the other ends just past the rear end-has a connector-
the blue wire works for my brake controller,
the orange is hot with the key on
the white is a ground
the black wire is for the 12v battery -hot all the time, but mine has no voltage

I need to know where this black wire gets it's power? Is there a connection or fuse or relay that I am missing?

This is very no standard wiring so anything I tell you is a "shot in the dark".

I sounds like someone cut off the original 7 pin connector and then tried to wire in 2 sets of 4 pin connectors.

If this started out as a factory trailer tow installation, then there are separate fuses for the trailer lights and power. Check your owners manual.

This van was a custom camping van- the two wiring looms going to the rear are factory- they never installed a 7 pin receiver.

it does have the separate trailer fuses- they are okay.

I suspect that there may be a break in the wire that comes from one of those separate trailer fuses to the adapter. More often then not they are color coded, so see if you have a black one coming from one of those fueses, then check continuity.
