Ford Econoline There's more to the Econoline's staying power than Ford simply sticking with a product that has been the No. 1-selling full-size van since 1980. The Econoline has received only minor changes over the years. The result is a cargo van that looks different, but is still very much the same. For many E-Series customers, that is the best news of all.

Default Tips on increasing load capacity?

I've got a 2003 E150 with contractor shelves, a divider and some cargo. When I weighed the vehicle with everything I want to carry in it, the total came to 6300lbs. The GVWR is 6700. When I last brought it in for an oil change, the mechanic at the garage told me I was overloaded and that I was going to wear out the shocks and springs fast. I've only had the vehicle since August of last year. I've got tires that are P235's. I've been carrying the total 6300 for only a few months. I've since removed some of the cargo and reduced the total weight to under 5200.

What I want to know is that if I replace the tires with ones that can hold more weight, and I swap out the shocks and struts with ones that are stronger, what tires and what struts should I choose and do I run the risk of screwing up my suspension/frame/ or anything else?

I don't want to load a lot more. I just want to carry the cargo that will put my total weight at 6300 safely. Any thoughts?
