Ford Econoline There's more to the Econoline's staying power than Ford simply sticking with a product that has been the No. 1-selling full-size van since 1980. The Econoline has received only minor changes over the years. The result is a cargo van that looks different, but is still very much the same. For many E-Series customers, that is the best news of all.

Default E250 Increase GVWR

I have a 1995 E250 Sportsmobile.

I run a little too close to my GVWR for my comfort. What can I do to increase it? I realize I may not be able to officially increase it but I'd like to run as safe as possible.

I have new E rated Michellins, upgraded shocks, new Hawk pads, motul brake fluid, freshly turned rotors, alignment with adjustable toe in, and an additi0nal real leaf added.

Specifically, can I upgrade the brakes and stay with the stock 16" wheels?

What are the other weakest links on the GVWR that I could beef up?

Many thanks

Tom

Ok. thanks. Is there a place I could go to see what rear axle assemblies are available and their capacity? I'm guessing the E350 and higher (F450) are what you are thinking about.

I'll look around myself but if you know (or could tell me where to look) what rear axles and springs would fit a 1995 E250 that I could choose from that would be great. Lot's of Ford pickups in Texas. I could probably pick up something used and rebuild but I've got a lot to learn.

Thanks again.

I as in a salvage yard yesterday and there were lots of full float rear axle ford vans from 1995 to 2000. However, they were not marked "60" or "70" on the webbing of the rear differential. They were marked "Dana" on the front plate.

Will any of these work as long as they were original equipment in a ford E350 or Club Wagon?

Does anyone know what the various were in the late 90s? I'd like to know what type of axle I am getting so I can research capacity and availability of rebuild parts.

Many thanks.
