Ford Econoline There's more to the Econoline's staying power than Ford simply sticking with a product that has been the No. 1-selling full-size van since 1980. The Econoline has received only minor changes over the years. The result is a cargo van that looks different, but is still very much the same. For many E-Series customers, that is the best news of all.

I was thinking of a need for the same thing. I'll work on mine and see if there an easy solution. Its simple wiring if you connect parallel to an existing door switch but you have to run wire the whole length of the van maybe the harness is pre-wired. That's what I have been planning to look up. let you know if I find something

Just FYI, some years Ford offered a switch on the rear cargo dome light lens, and some years didn't have the switch.

Mine did not have the switch, but I needed a new rear brake light - which is the same part as the rear cargo light. The salvage yard light I bought actually had the switch right on the lens of the rear cargo light. Yes, the switch is VERY handy when unloading the van thru the back doors at night.

Although I've seen lots of cargo vans that had 12V marine ceiling-mount lights installed in the rear cargo ceiling area. It is relatively easy to wire them into a fused circuit and you can light up the back of your van like it is nearly daytime.
