Ford Econoline There's more to the Econoline's staying power than Ford simply sticking with a product that has been the No. 1-selling full-size van since 1980. The Econoline has received only minor changes over the years. The result is a cargo van that looks different, but is still very much the same. For many E-Series customers, that is the best news of all.

Hey there,
Was wondering if it flashed a check engine light ?
I have a few F150's 1990 to 2007 years.
One particular was a 1994 5 litre and it ended up it ran great sat for a bit,
Then went to use it kinda had the same thing as you, ended up to be something in the trans. So I flushed the trans because I new I had no issues with my brake system and all went away. Something in the tran from it sitting for a bit made a band stick. the flush cured the problem.

If you are 100 % that there is no problems with the brake system, next would be trans. Put it in Drive excelerate up to 30 km or 20 miles and just let your foot off the brake, if it kicks down to a braking without touching the brake. This would be the problem. If you are mechanically inclined you could drop the trans pan and clean filter and put new fluid in. Saves you a bit. But I don't recomend going to a lube shop to do a flush due to they will not have the proper flush machine which tranny shops have. cost for a flush is usually around $100.00 to $ 240.00.

Now another truck I had I thought brake system was working but ended up my emergency brake was one.

If you have a jack , jack up each wheel and turn it while off ground, then get someone to apply brakes then let go and then turn wheel again. Could have an issue with the brakes but think you don't. something sticking.

Hope this helps,

Cheers for now.
