Ford Econoline There's more to the Econoline's staying power than Ford simply sticking with a product that has been the No. 1-selling full-size van since 1980. The Econoline has received only minor changes over the years. The result is a cargo van that looks different, but is still very much the same. For many E-Series customers, that is the best news of all.

4x4....N I C E!
It's been a while since i worked on one of these.
Is there a place on the back of the instrument cluster for the cable to screw into?
The VSS, Vehicle Speed Sensor, should be on the end of the trans.

IF it is 4X4, the VSS and cable goes into the transfercase, at least in an '89 F150 / bronco

i found the vss on the transfer case, the wires lay up in to the hood where i lost them hard to see where they go,

behind the instrument cluster i found a wire plug that would fit great behind the speedo meter, that plug dont fitt on the speedo meter self so may some unit be missing that connects the speedometer and the wire plug'?????

If you have CC then there will be 2 cables. One from the transfer case to the CC unit. The other from the CC unit to the speed-o.

The vehicle speed is determined by the RPM of the rear driveshaft. The vehicles actual speed will be off when it's in 4x4 Low if it was placed on the transmission output shaft. The output shaft spins twice as fast as the drive shaft in low.
