Ford Econoline There's more to the Econoline's staying power than Ford simply sticking with a product that has been the No. 1-selling full-size van since 1980. The Econoline has received only minor changes over the years. The result is a cargo van that looks different, but is still very much the same. For many E-Series customers, that is the best news of all.

Default 1993 ford econoline winnebago dayvan gross/net vehicleweight

I'm in the Uk and about to purchase this nice old van, but I can't find out what the load capacity is. We have weighed it on a weighbridge and is about 2.5 tons. What is its maximum weight? Anyone know? I don't even know what kind of econoline it is, but it has a 5.7litre engine. There does not seem to be any information marked on it, at all.

Total capacity (GVWR) is determined by the model. i.e. E150 / E250 / E350. An E150 will have 5 lug wheels, the E250 will have 8 lug wheels and a semi-floating rear end (no hub) an E350 will have 8 lug wheels and a full floating rear end (with hub).

Since this is a Motor Home, it is likely an E350, with either single or dual rear wheels.

There should be a hand written or typewritten tag on the drivers' side door jamb, listing the VIN and GVWR, which would have been affixed by Winnebago. Although these are often hard to read as the ink fades over the years.

Jason, thanxfor your reply. This van is a mystery since the manual is in Japanese. The speedo (odometer) seems to be in kph, which must be rare for an american van. There is a door plate which says 6500 GVWR: is that lbs or kilos? I am now told that the door plate also says that the model number is E143! Ring any bells with anyone?

Both vans sound like your basic "conversion shell" which is one that is sold without an interior for the customizer market... they basically then become one-offs...

and as far as adding in the wheelbase to the mix, it's possible they are a version that was never offered here in the States... that was, and remains, a fairly common practice... for example, Ford made a version of the 351 Cleveland motor for Austrailian trucks that had very much beefed up webbing in the block... highly prized here in the States in drag racing and offshore powerboating circles...

the GVWR sounds about right for a six passenger van...
