Ford Edge It seems that the days of the big boxy SUV might be numbered (at least temporarily). In the meantime, consumers are flocking to vehicles with SUV functionality and sedanlike handling characteristics. Ford's first attempt to hop aboard the "crossover utility vehicle" (CUV) bandwagon came in the form of the lackluster Freestyle.

Default First poster with a new 08 Edge

Picked up an 08 Ford Edge Limited yesterday, 12/29/08. So far very pleased with it. After you get through playing with the Ford/Microsoft Sync feature you then realize you have a pretty nice vehicle as well.

Time will tell how this newly designed Crossover will work out.

Take care of it and keep it maintained and hopefully it won't give you any trouble.

I got my wife this car last month and she loves it. I was worried about the sync system but she is a pro at it now. Voice recognition on the system is outstanding. Her second favorite feature is the power lift gate.

I am still trying to figure out if I am going to get a manufacturer installed nav or get a 3rd party one. Only plus side of the manufacturer one is the integration into the sync system and the premium sound upgrade. Not sure if that is worth the 2k or not.

Never really heard much or saw much about the Taurus X. I would have thought the dealer might have brought it up if it is a good alternate to the Ford Edge.

Either way, the wife is pretty happy with the new Edge.

Thanks; the Taurus X is a bit larger with 3 rows of seats and it weighs less than the Edge with the same drivetrain. It is built on the Volvo platform and is an upgraded Freestyle. The Edge looks more stylish though.

Interesting that the Taurus X is not listed on this forum, although the Freestyle is listed.

I will look into adding the Taurus X forum. Figure it will be a popular car and we really want to cover everything here.

Thanks for the heads up.

Glad I got on this forum, now. My wife is seriously looking and a new crossover is definitiely in our future. She going to be driving a bunch of these creatures. So far it's been a VW Toureg, Nissan Murano and Rogue, Mitsubishi Outlander. The list includes the Mazda, Saturn, GMC and the Ford. If somebody would have told me 2 years ago i'd be a died-in-the-wool Dodge/Cummins fan and owner I'd have said they were crazy. So, having a Ford in the stable isn't that far outside the realm of possibilties. I'm keeping an open mind.
