Ford EdgeIt seems that the days of the big boxy SUV might be numbered (at least temporarily). In the meantime, consumers are flocking to vehicles with SUV functionality and sedanlike handling characteristics. Ford's first attempt to hop aboard the "crossover utility vehicle" (CUV) bandwagon came in the form of the lackluster Freestyle.
I have a 2007 edge SEL have and every time I lock the doors they automatically unlock at random time. I have tried using the remote, the interior buttons, and the keypad, but they still continue to unlock. I have never waited to see how long it takes them to unlock but it happens every single time the vehicle is locked.
Does it have an aftermarket alarm or remote starter installed? If so, it's probably not connected properly, and/or the locking/unlocking circuits aren't compatible.
Locking and unlocking are controlled by the Smart Junction Box. The wiring to the switches is all logic-level, low-current wiring, and it's highly reliable.

This may sound weird, but go through the settings on the computer using the setup button on the dash. Go to the automatic lock and disable it and then go to the automatic unlock and disable it. Mine gave me a problem when I activated the auto unlock and my courtesy headlights. Perhaps its a programming issue.
