Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

Default Stuck Stereo

I just recently purchased a used 2004 Ford Escape and i'm trying to remove the stereo using DIN tools, but it seems to be stuck. Is there someone of getting through the dash in order to release the stereo, or is there additional points where the stereo is attached that i must remove first? If you have any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.

Push the pins in till you feel like a click on each side. push right pin to the right and hold pressure and left pin to the left and hold pressure and it should pull out with a little effort

Mark,

I have been trying to pull the stereo for over a day. I have the necessary DIN tools and have attempted your suggestion, but i believe the release mechanism for the stereo may be faulty or damaged. Is there another way to remove the stereo if this is the case?

Thanks.

That is the only way to get it out. I made my tools out of a clothes hanger. It should click and the radio should clide out.
