Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

Question 08 sat ready radio how to add sirius

Just picked up an 08 Escape with a sat ready radio. What do I need to get Sirius. Dealer has no idea and neither does the local big box retailer. Sirius has the SCC1C but do I need an interface to the radio from the Sirius tuner? Any one add Sirius?

I would love to get my Starmate off the windshield and use the factory radio.

Thanks

If you have a Sat Radio, there will be card with the owners manual with a subscription activation code and phone number. All I did was phone the number on the card, give them the activation code, and set up an account, pre paid with my credit card. and in less than 5 minutes, I had sat radio in my 2008 Escape LTD.

Default Sat Ready Radio

Just because your radio is sat ready doesn't mean you have a sirius tuner...A good way of telling is if there is a satellite radio antenna mounted on the roof...Visteon makes the kits to add them and you're looking at about $500 installed depending on your area...$420-$470 for the parts

Where can the kit be purchased?

Alot of the new Fords come with a 3 month free subsription to Sirius radio.The Dealership should have all the information or read your owners manual.

I have an 08 Escape with the same situation. It has a SAT button but when I push it I get a message "NO SAT RADIO". I don't see an external sat antenna, and I'm pretty sure it isn't equipped. This is a fleet car so I'm not sure.

I'm hoping there is a tuner we can buy, preferrably OEM, to enable it. I'd love to get Sirius hooked up. If you find anything out please post it here, and I'll do the same. I live in Phoenix so Muves if you find a local shop please post that too.

I bought the factory Visteon OEM tuner from CD Changers, In-Dash CD Changers, Car Navigation Systems, Rear Seat Entertainment Systems and More Automotive Electronics from Radios and More on Monday and got it today. I'm at Audio Express right now they are installing it for $70. I could have done it myself but I didn't want to deal with it. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Can someone with the activation card post the phone number here?

@talnus,

Which kit did you buy, the 4047455R, or the 4047456? Also, did the kit come with everyting necessary (tuner, antenna, power supplies, cables, etc)?
I'm assuming your radio looks like the F-16 fighter cockpit pictured on this site.

@anyone with experience installing these,

On a scale of 1 to 10 what's the difficulty of installation for somebody with good service skills?
