| Hi Mike,
You might want to check out cleanmpg.com to learn some hypermiling techniques to improve your MPG. Hypermiling techniques can be applied to hybrid and non-hybrid vehicles, but a lot of the site is devoted to hypermiling hybrids. Hypermiling is exceeding the MPG rating on your vehicel. I am getting around 29 with my 2008 Escape Hybrid FWD so far, and that has been all cold weather driving, so I expect it should be improving.
Thanks,
Bruce |

| i would start off by running a can of seafoam through your PCV vacume line, change your PCV valve, then do a complete tune up. new plugs and wires. You should see your 6-10 MPG difference. My explorer 5.0 was getting 10 MPG and i was mad so i did all that and now if i drive with out a lead foot ( i got back alot of power too) it gets 15-18 easy. good luck.. Also, make sure your tire pressure is correct and avoid hard accelerations and quick stops. You can also go into some modding such as an intake anad exhaust, under drive pullies, synthetic fluids in your motor, tranny and differentals!! Good luck! |

| I am now getting 21.9 in my 2005 FEH, up from 19.5 in the cold weather over the winter. I hope it improves even more as the weather warms. |

| I am averaging 29.4 MPG since my purchase, and I notice that when it gets above freezing, I tend to get in the 32 MPG range. When it is colder, I get more like 28-30 MPG. Have my tanks recorded on cleanmpg.com as bruski1959's FEH if you are interested. I have hypermiled (averaged more than EPA estimates) 4 tanks now.
Thanks,
Bruce |

| i agree with Zblackbeast i would check your crankcase ventilation and the pcv valve, escapes are also equipped with a DPFE (Delta Pressure Feeback Sensor) which can get clogged up and cause poor gas mileage and if it does fail, it will throw a soft code which will not cause for a check engine light to come on, but if you use a diagnostic computer it will show a EGR Flow insufficent and or overflow. Also i recommend a bottle of AMSOIL P.I. Performance Improver you mix it with your gas and its good for 4,000miles and i went from 18mpg to 24mpg with a bottle of that stuff and havent put another bottle in and im still seeing good results. |
