Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

Default Is it a fuse?!?

Hello all! not sure where to list this but my Escape's windshield wiper pump system is acting weird.

When trying to pump fluid onto the windshield the pump will not engage and no fluid comes out. HOWEVER...

When pumping fluid onto the back window the pump engages and fluid comes out and works properly. I checked the fuses under the hood and inside on the passenger side.

Any suggestions???

Do you hear the pump when it should be spraying?

Most (if not all) vehicles with dual washers - front and rear - usually do it with two seperate pumps mounted through the bottom of the reservoir. Some in fact design the placement so that the rear supply pump is mounted higher and will appear to go dry first with some fluid still available for the front. The Escape has rtwo pumps - the front has probably failed.

Go buy a testlight at a parts store for like 2bucks and run the testlight's leads across the windshield sprayer motor's electrical terminals (there should only be two)and see if the testlight lights up if it does, then check your hoses to see if they are clogged or disconnected if it doesnt light up check fuse, if fuse is good then, remove and replace wiper motor.
