Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

Default 03 Escape Trailer Wiring Problem

My 2003 Escape trailer wiring (dealer installed?) recently started acting up. Everything works except the left turn/break light. I'm getting low voltage; just enough to dimly light the test light. I've done my testing at the car with the trailer disconnected so I know the trailer is not the problem.

This vehicle has separate turn and break lights, so I assume there is a relay somewhere to "simplify" the wiring for the trailer. Could it be bad? Where is it?

Similar issue on an E-150 Chateau. I am getting 8 Volts for my Running Lights and Turn Indicators for the trailer. Have measured voltage at the back of the truck, intermediate wiring harness and in the engine compartment at the Power Module Fuse Box. The trailer is not connected, so the issue is not there. It seems I am getting some resistance in the line and have no clue where to look now. I am not losing the car battery and get 12.5 V when I check it directly. What else is inline here that I need to examine to find the source of the voltage drop?

There was indeed a trailer relay stuffed into the rear left panel. I replaced it and all is wall.

Only if you have the factory trailer tow option. Original post said it was done by the dealer.
