Ford EscapeThe Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.
Hi
I just bought a 08 escape 3 months ago. I have black cloth seats that stain very easily. I belive its only water (that spilled once) and rain from my pants. I have light colord milky white stains. Any advice on how to clean the seats? Also, when I turn the steering wheel either way when slowly taking off, I hear a continuous chirping sound. And wen I go over speed bumps, the front and rear ends make a noise as if they need lubrication or new shocks. Thanks
Got the same problem. Mine are tan. White stain rings from just water. I cleaned them with a damp towel and that seemed to take them out. Pain...not happy about it!

I monitor several webpages on behalf of Ford and I hope you don't mind me adding a comment here. I'm not aware of a general staining problem with 2008 Escape seats. Before the fabric is cut by our seat supplier, it is protected with a water repellent finish to help keep liquids/stains from setting into the material. The repellent should also make it easier to clean.
cubbies - As far as the noises you're hearing while driving, I'd recommend that you take your vehicle to your dealership for an inspection. They have the equipment and access to the information necessary to identify and resolve your issues.

Got to disagree about "easier to clean" After a year they look like crap after multiple cleanings.

I have the same upholstery problems. My Escape is an '08 and I have had it for three months -- light beige interior and light use. I suggest that the Ford representative ask the folks in charge of upholstery to check this issue out rather than dismiss it out of hand. Obviously this is not an isolated problem that I believe Ford could, and should correct. After all this is a small SUV, it should be able to withstand some damp clothing or a damp towel, e.g. normal wear and tear. The dealership came around and cleaned my back seat once I was able to speak to someone pretty high up. In the end he suggested that I take the car a detailing company and have it cleaned and have Scotchguard applied (thought that stuff was banned). Anyway, I'm not going the toxic chemical route, so I am buying a "dog" cover for the back seat that no dog will probably ever sit on and am considering front seat covers, too, which really ticks me off. The guy at the dealership used carpet cleaner and a hand held Bissell carpet cleaner to get the stains out. I think I may invest in that, too. Perhaps Ford should consider it as a free gift with purchase???
I have an '08 Escape I bought used at 10,8xx miles. at the time I noticed some staining adn asked the dealer to clean the seats. They did, and it was fine, but now they look horrible at 17,xxx.
I dont drink or eat in my truck and have no explanation for the stains. I think some of it is rain, some of it must come from clothes...but what the heck? I had an Accord with similar color seats and NO problems.
Anyone figured out how to get this fabric clean yet?
I am having the same problem with stain on the seats. Nothing seems to take them out. For the money you pay for this vehicle, you would think the seats would be top of the line, or at the very least, the dealership would act concerned about this problem. I am considering seat covers. I have not had any problems like this with my other two Ford vehicles.
I have a 2008 Ford Edge which I have had for just over 1 month. It is a great vehicle except for the cloth seats. I have the black cloth seats and have noticed a white powdery substance on them. I tried to wipe them with a damp cloth with a touch of soap and now I have stains on the seat. Can anyone tell me how to remove the stain? Thanks ..Bob
Have any of you guys tried a carpet type cleaner, you know like a "Little Green Clean Machine?
I have a Kirby and used the Kirby carpet cleaner solution with great results. When you use the cleaner solution you use only the foam. When it dries you just vacuum it off. I would test on a small piece of fabric first.
